Balance & Fall Prevention
Balance & Fall Prevention Overview:
We understand that poor balance and falling is a major problem. Falls happen in one in every three people over the age of 65 and are the leading cause of accidental death in people over the age of 85.
Our goal is to set up a program that focuses on restoring balance, increasing strength and flexibility and improving confidence to allow you to return to your normal activities
Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD)
Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) Overview:
What is it?
For the vast majority of people, TMD (tempromandibular joint disorders, commonly known as just TMJ) is a downward spiral of increasing tightness and pain. Due to a variety of possible factors, the muscles in and around the jaw, head, and neck all tighten.
This causes you to chronically contract the muscles of the jaw, which creates pain and joint movement dysfunction. Symptoms of dynamic jaw clenching, grinding, and tension ultimately creates more pain and tightness and advances the cycle of dysfunction of the TMJ joint.
Vestibular Rehabilitation.
Vestibular Rehabilitation:
A majority of adults living with vestibular disorders often go undiagnosed and untreated, resulting in a diminished quality of life and inability to perform the normal activities of daily living.
Patients suffering from vestibular disorders often experience:
- Lightheadedness or Dizziness
- Positional or Persistant Vertigo
- Nausea
- Impaired Postural Control
Hand Therapy.
Our hand therapy program focuses on rehabilitation of the hand and upper limbs.
Hand Therapy Overview:
The hand and arm are complex parts of the human body that are essential for all of our self-care, work and leisure activities. When we lose function or have pain due to accidents, disease, repetitive stress, a highly skilled and specialized approach is essential to restore our upper limbs back to normal.
All upper extremity/hand rehabilitation services are provided by a physical therapist with over 21 years of hand rehabilitation.
Even if you have a permanent arm or hand limitation, a physical therapist can provide you with techniques, education and equipment to allow you to perform activities with less pain and improved independence.
