People experience pivotal points in their lives which can be life-changing. In the aftermath of a rear-end collision, Doctors have told Rey that he would probably need to use a cane for the rest of his life, let alone crutches for the first 3 years. The body’s tissue mends. All it needed was a commitment to gym-work and Rey was able to waltz at his friends Quinceanera 6 months later without any device. The epiphany: to recover any function, the body must be allowed freedom to move.
A Physical Therapy direction became clear. Upon graduating with honors at the University of California, Irvine, Rey received his undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences. Never having to leave sunny Southern California, he received a Masters in Physical Therapy degree from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona. As a commitment to the community he served, Rey enjoyed the 10 year prestige of being boarded as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist. Over his career, the spectrum of people under his care range from neonatal to the elderly, and weekend warriors to athletes.
In service to the community, Rey is an emergency first responder to local high school football, track, soccer and basketball programs. Supports the wrestling program as a Master Weight Assessor. Provides instruction as a red sash level Filipino Martial Art of Escrima. Involved in Habitat for Humanity.
